Heidi - the family Doberman

October 1987 - April 8, 2000

Heidi was born on a small farm North of New Orleans. Our first glimpse of her came as she ran through fields with her ears flopping in the wind. She soon became the beloved family pet. Heidi was very devoted to Jim and to the family. She cared for him and showed concern during his battle with cancer. She often lay by the side of his bed or across the doorway to his bedroom after Jim's chemotherapy treatments. She accompanied Jim to the backyard when he inspected his four-o'clocks. In the spring of 1994, she was at his side constantly and would lay beside his wheelchair. She grieved when he lost his battle to cancer. Ironically, she, too, battled cancer and lost her own battle on April 8, 2000, which was the anniversary of Jim's burial. She now rests in the backyard with four-o'clocks blooming above her. It is because of the love and devotion she showed to Jim and the family that she has her own web page.
